Today is suppose to be a day for revising my last module, Company Law. But... haha I went ktv with a friend W. Very fun. And i also know how lousy my voice is. Hee. After the ktv session, I was suppose to study with W but we ended up chatting in the end, and left KFC after 1 hr. Can't expect us to study after a tiring singing session hee. I really dread studying now. Holiday mood is coming in. ahhhh.
After the ktv session, I wanted to check out something in town, so I went. I went into a shop and I found that the thing i want to buy isn't there anymore. I don't really expect it to be there because the last time i saw the thing is 2 months ago. I got panicked haha, and I went all around town to see if i can find the identical thing. But i didn't. I went back to a neighbourhood area shopping centre. I went into this shop that is under the same name with the one in town. And I saw it!! But its not the same size. Anyway I don't think getting the big size one is better because of the limited space one's house have. Oh I haven't say why I want to buy that thing. Its for a person's 21st Bday hee. Wish her happy birthday. hee
Anyway here is today's slice of Life. Its relates to me alot.
Self Esteem (Part 1)
"Considering how self-esteem is the most crucial factor in achieving success in many aspects of our lives, it's appalling how negatively some people perceive themselves. A healthy ego (not an inflated one) is essential in forging strong and satisfying relationships, achieving fulfillment and success at work, and maintaining a healthy mental state.
In this programme and the next four, we'll examine in detail some suggestions on how to improve your self-esteem.
If there's one point I've hammered to death on this programme, it's how everyone has problems. You are not the punching bag for some divine or cosmic catharsis. There is no mysterious, perverse force that's deliberately wrecking your life. You are not a freak, you are not unlucky, and you were not born ugly. You've maybe simply allowed the world to make you ugly.
So stop worrying about all your problems, and begin to solve them by first figuring out what exactly your problem is. It's important to note that you are not the problem; it is you who has the problem. Everyone has the capacity for knowledge, awareness, beauty, compassion, love, creativity, and happiness. Identify the things which are preventing you from becoming the person you can be.
They could be personal habits like consistently speaking without thinking through something well enough, dependence on certain substances to make you feel good about yourself, or your passiveness - your inability to say "no" or assume responsibility and control.
Don't be lazy and half-hearted when you identify these problems. Be very clear about what they are and what they're doing to your life. Deal with them individually and specifically, not as an overpowering torrent.
Size yourself up. What makes you you? What are your key motivations and values? In what manner do you manage your external world? What about your inner world? How you view the world, to a large extent, is dependent on how you view yourself.
What makes you feel and think the way you do? What makes you do what you do? Having a clear idea of who you are helps you maintain direction in life. It helps you focus on the things which give you meaning and fulfillment. Weed out the time-wasters and spirit-drainers.
Join me in the next programme as we continue to explore some tools for developing self-esteem."
I think this slice of life can help many of my friends. Stay tuned for more.
